Evaluating where your organization is in terms of goal progress is critical for ensuring that you wrap up this year in a positive way.
Here are some ways to track goal progress and make adjustments as needed.
Revisit Your Goals
Seems obvious, right? The reality is that many of your employees may have forgotten about organizational goals a long time ago. Take a minute to revisit the goals you set forth and remind your team of them. Ask them to weigh in and provide feedback about what has been done to achieve these goals – or what has been lacking. Just starting the dialogue can get your team refocused on what needs to be done before the end of the year.
Measure Your Progress
Hopefully, your goals are measurable, which means you should be able to easily see what you’ve achieved up until this point. For example, if one of your goals was to increase productivity, have your outputs gone up? Or, if one of your goals was to improve employee retention, you’ll want to see how many employees you’ve retained since the start of the year. If you feel as though you’ve made little progress, it’s time to regroup with your team and set new realistic targets that should be hit.
Hold Your Employees Accountable
Now is the time to buckle up and make sure every employee understands the goals set forward for your organization. Devise a plan so that every member of your team can contribute to meeting goals and is held accountable for the tasks they’re expected to deliver by the end of the year. Failing to communicate with your employees about their roles in this process can easily result in confusion and a lack of focus, derailing you from meeting goals in a reasonable timeframe.
It’s never too late to reassess your organizational goals and get your team back on track. Being proactive about staying focused after the “new year” will ultimately set you up for long-term success.
